Brazil Hotspots
Salvador da Bahia

Wealth of culture

Salvador da Bahia is the capital city of Bahia and is one of the brightest gems in Brazil's crown. Here the descendants of African slaves have preserved their cultural roots more than anywhere else, giving it it's title as the African soul of Brazil. In Salvador you will find a wealth of culture, culinary, musical, dance and martial arts traditions.

Economically, the state of Bahia is the sixth largest in the country and is connected to the main economical centres of Brazil and the world. The industrial and service sectors are its most important and the state also has considerable mineral and petroleum deposits. In recent years, soy cultivation has increased substantially.

Further more, government incentive programs have seen investment coming into the city double over the last 2 years, which has stimulated the region as a whole.

Salvador already has adequate infrastructure and cultural conditions for high levels of tourism. Many Spanish and Portuguese developers and major hotel and resort groups have now arrived and are investing millions in tourist developments aimed at the European market.

Salvador is probably the first region in the northeast of Brazil to attract international property investors and remains one of the most popular locations for property investors and areas such as Rio Vermelho, Vitória and Barra are still delivering strong growth returns. Locations close by like Linha Verde (Coconut Coast) are also starting to attract investment.

Major developers and hotel operators have been investing heavily in the area. If you are looking for a traditional holiday let investment, Salvador may be the best opportunity Brazil has to offer.

Salvador International Airport was expanded in 2002 in order to cope with increased demand from European carriers.

Many people in Brazil believe that Salvador offers the best carnival in the whole country, due to its combination of traditional dances, like samba and its vibrant music scene. Capoeira a martial art developed by the slaves of Bahia is also very popular and spectacular to watch.
